Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
