Hold’em is all about players and position. All knowledgeable Texas Hold’em players concur that position in no restriction Hold’em is critically significant. Playing your hole cards in last spot could be a whole lot more beneficial than in starting poker position. This is because much more information is assembled before acting.
e.g., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local poker room. I limped in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer marker, just to partake in some fun. Flop arrived A-A-4. A player in starting spot placed a $15 bet. 2 players drop out and it was now my turn to act. I should have dropped out, but something appear to be a tiny bit off. I labeled this person as a weak-tight person, and normally if he held the strongest hand he would simply check, so I called.
The turn arrived with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opponent placed an additional wager of $20. I hesitated a bit, but took a chance to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He dropped out and I take the cash.
Playing last position gives you an insight into where you are positioned by observing how other gamblers carry oneself and wager. On the flip side, players at early position could use their poker spot to check-raise the late seated antagonists and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, each ends, last and starting must be wagered carefully.
