Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money games?
